Four Northern Ireland weightlifters selected for 2026 Commonwealth Games
Four weightlifters have been chosen to represent Northern Ireland at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Hannah Crymble, Harrison McGrogan, Kaitlin Saunders, and Omar Keshta are the selected athletes. Crymble, a National Lottery-funded Athlete Award holder, recently won her second consecutive British Championship in the 63kg category. This will be her second Commonwealth Games.
McGrogan, also an Athlete Award recipient, won the British Championships in the 71kg category. A former rugby scrum half at Bangor Grammar School, he will make his Commonwealth Games debut while awaiting his A Level results this summer.
Saunders, a former gymnast and CrossFit athlete, took up weightlifting after watching Team NI compete at the 2022 Birmingham Games. She qualified at 77kg and will compete in her first Commonwealth Games.
Keshta was born in Belfast before moving to Egypt. He returned to the UK to study at Brunel University and will compete in the over 110kg category, also making his debut.
The athletes are supported through National Lottery funding distributed by Sport NI.
