Larne Powerlifters to Represent Northern Ireland at Commonwealth Championships
Four powerlifters from Larne, County Antrim, have been chosen to compete for Northern Ireland at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships in Winnipeg, Canada, this September.
The team comprises sisters Caitlin and Megan Shardlow, Naomi Ross and Justin White. They all train at House of Health gym in Larne under coach Jack Snoddy.
Megan Shardlow previously represented Northern Ireland at the 2024 Commonwealth Championships in South Africa and the 2026 Small Nations Championships in Luxembourg. She holds a silver medal in the deadlift and two Northern Ireland records.
Caitlin Shardlow earned a gold medal at a Commonwealth qualifier in March and has set six Northern Ireland records in her age and weight category.
Naomi Ross, who is head coach at Larne Gymnastics Academy, won her first two competitive outings earlier this year.
Justin White has collected gold, silver and bronze medals in local competitions.
The athletes are working to cover their own costs but are seeking additional financial support for travel, accommodation and competition expenses.
