MFC Sports has announced the full rollout of its Immediate Support Programme to all schools in Northern Ireland. The initiative, which was tested in a pilot phase, provides participating schools with funds to help pupils obtain PE kits and other sportswear.

Under the scheme, schools receive a credit allocation equivalent to £1.70 for each enrolled pupil. According to the company, this money can be applied to PE kits, leisurewear and sports clothing for both students and staff. In a school of 600 pupils, for example, the credit would amount to £1,020.

Seán O’Neill, the founder of MFC Sports, said the programme was designed to address the financial pressures that can prevent children from taking part in school sport. He noted that schools are increasingly aware of these challenges and that the support is intended to reach those families most in need.

The programme’s expansion coincides with statutory guidelines from the Department of Education aimed at making school uniforms more affordable. Schools in Northern Ireland are now required to minimise branded items and to prioritise generic PE kit options where possible. The rules are meant to ensure that the cost of uniforms does not become a barrier to full participation in school life.

In addition to the immediate credit, schools that join the programme can enter a two-year partnership arrangement with MFC Sports. This partnership generates a 15 per cent credit on qualifying annual spending, which can be reinvested into further support for families, teamwear, staff clothing and sports equipment.

To encourage uptake ahead of the next academic year, the company is offering an early registration incentive. Schools that register interest by 30 June 2026 and subsequently enrol in the programme will receive a £250 contribution towards an MFC Sports team kit. The early registration period is intended to give schools time to review the proposal and discuss requirements with the MFC education team.

Schools can indicate their interest by emailing support@mfcsports.co.uk or by calling 07734 973806.
