Derry and Strabane tourism revenue hits £94 million in 2025
Derry City and Strabane District Council recorded almost £94 million in tourism spending in 2025.
Overnight visitor numbers rose 35 per cent compared with 2024, according to Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency figures.
Mayor Ruairí McHugh said the results showed the area's growing reputation for leisure, culture and short breaks.
Visit Derry chief executive Odhran Dunne attributed the growth to investment in tourism and collaboration with travel partners.
Tourism manager Jennifer O'Donnell said the council is preparing a new Tourism Action Plan for 2026-2031.
City of Derry Airport managing director Steve Frazer said new EasyJet routes from Liverpool, Edinburgh and Birmingham contributed to a 23 per cent rise in passenger numbers between 2024 and 2025.
Northern Ireland recorded 5.1 million overnight trips in total during 2025, generating £1.2 billion in visitor expenditure.
