Visitors from the Republic of Ireland took 1.3 million trips to Northern Ireland in 2025, up from 1.1 million in 2024. Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald said the all-Ireland economy drives growth in the tourism industry. She added that more visitors from the south increase spending in the local economy.

Overnight stays by these visitors totalled 2.7 million nights in 2025, compared to 2.5 million in 2024. Spending reached £317.1 million last year, an increase from £242.7 million in 2024. Archibald noted Belfast will host the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann this August.

Tourism NI's 2026 spring marketing campaign targets the Republic of Ireland through TV, radio, press and social media. The campaign aims to deliver 125 million opportunities to reach audiences. It promotes attractions, experiences, events and accommodation, with focus on value for money and short breaks.

Carmel Scott, Head of Marketing at Tourism NI, said the growth reflects sustained marketing efforts in that market. She stated visitors value landscapes, coastlines, food and drink, attractions and accommodation.

Sinn Féin MLA Pádraig Delargy welcomed the increase in visitors from the south. He called it a success for the all-Ireland economy.
