Sinn Fein councillor to become next lord mayor of Belfast
Rois-Marie Donnelly of Sinn Fein will become lord mayor of Belfast on Monday evening.
She succeeds Democratic Unionist Tracy Kelly.
Donnelly, a 30-year-old councillor from Ballymurphy, is a fluent Irish speaker.
She has said she will use the position to highlight the cost of living crisis and violence against women and girls.
Donnelly also plans to promote the Irish language during her term.
Belfast will host the eight-day all-Ireland Fleadh in August.
Two months ago Donnelly supported a proposal for Irish language street signs in east Belfast despite local opposition.
