Work to replace Castle Street hoarding in Comber set for June
Ards and North Down Borough Council will begin work on June 8 to replace the deteriorating hoarding at the Castle Street gap site in Comber.
The project includes clearing the derelict area and installing new panels that will display historical images of the town.
Alliance councillor Patricia Morgan said she had raised the issue through a Notice of Motion after receiving complaints about the condition of the existing structure.
She said the timing was important ahead of the Comber Earlies festival and the Comber in Bloom competition.
Ulster Unionist alderman Philip Smith said the current hoarding was about to collapse and described the planned replacement as a clear improvement.
He said the work should be completed before the end of June.
Both councillors thanked council officers, the Department for Communities and the site owner for progressing the scheme.
