Choir Performs at Thompson House for Brain Injury Awareness Week
The Enthusiasts Choir performed at Thompson House Hospital in Lisburn during Brain Injury Awareness Week.
The choir was formed in 2019 in partnership with Brain Injury Matters and the Ormeau Community Choir. It is open to people with acquired brain injury.
Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly attended the event. She said the performance gave her an opportunity to thank staff for their work supporting patients.
She noted that some choir members had previously been patients at the hospital.
Interim Manager Victoria Quinn said patients came down from the wards to listen. She said the hospital worked with Brain Injury Matters and the Cedar Foundation to organise the event.
Brain Injury Matters Chief Executive Gerard Anderson said the performance was emotional. He said some members had been told they might not speak or sing again.
Choir leader Una McCann said the group began meeting online in 2020 during lockdown and first met in person in 2021.
