St Brigid’s GAC has opened a Pre-Application Community Consultation for a proposed sports pitch development at Upper Malone next to the Mary Peters Track.

The plan includes one new grass GAA pitch and one synthetic multi-sport pitch for shared community use. No clubhouse, pavilion or commercial buildings are included.

The club currently has more than 1,275 members and 28 teams. It reports a shortage of local pitches that forces many teams to travel long distances.

Two public meetings will be held at the Pavilion, Queen’s Sport Complex on 24 June and 27 June.

County Antrim GAA chairman Seamus McMullan said the new pitches would help address documented shortages of GAA facilities in Belfast.

St Brigid’s chair Eunan Conway said the project aims to meet club needs while allowing wider community access and respecting the Lagan Valley Regional Park setting.

Feedback from the consultation will shape the final design before any planning application is submitted.
