A Tyrone GAA club has applied for planning permission to extend its gym and add a social hub with a café at its grounds on the Drumnakilly Road.

Killyclogher St Mary's, founded in 1904, has several hundred playing and social members. The club now seeks approval from Fermanagh and Omagh District Council for works at its Ballinamullin centre.

The application proposes an extension to the existing gym, creation of a new social hub, and alterations to the Cappagh Suite building. Larger windows would increase natural daylight inside, and the car park would be given a facelift.

In planning documents, the club describes the proposal as a sustainable enhancement of an established community asset. It states the facility provides an important role beyond sport, acting as a community resource that supports volunteering, social interaction, and family involvement.

The social hub would include a seating area where people can meet over tea or coffee. The club says this would let parents gather while children take part in activities, offer members a place to socialise, and help strengthen community relations.

The club adds that the role of a modern sporting facility extends beyond pitches and exercise spaces, and the social hub would provide a complementary community use alongside the existing sporting function.

The work would take place on the club's existing grounds, which have been developed since the 1980s.
