Omagh conference spotlights neurodivergent inclusion
A neurodivergent conference took place last week at South West College in Omagh.
Lorraine Kee, a nursing assistant from Fintona, told attendees that families dealing with neurodivergence must adapt constantly and learn from experience.
Kee said her family has spent 19 years working to understand diagnosis and inclusion.
She urged listeners to stay adaptable, avoid self-criticism and continue trying.
Jane Dunseath, a former South West College student from Cookstown, described her path from a diagnosis of autism at age seven to a university degree in Special Educational Needs and Disability Studies.
Dunseath credited the college with providing the foundation for her later studies at Liverpool Hope University, from which she graduated in 2025.
She told the event that individuals should refuse to let others define their capabilities and should pursue opportunities that feel difficult.
The conference brought together learners, parents, guardians, educators and professionals.
