Omagh Riding for the Disabled Association Opens Sensory Room
The Omagh Riding for the Disabled Association opened a new sensory room on Thursday. The facility includes a calm area and an education zone. Funding came from the Asda Foundation and Halifax.
Mary Leonard, a committee member and managing director of Learning SPACE, said her daughter attends RDA. She noted the room helps adults and children regulate. It also serves as a play space for siblings. The space is available for community rental.
Omagh RDA provides equine-assisted activities each week for up to 80 children and young people. The volunteer-led charity supports individuals with autism, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and emotional or behavioural challenges. It offers vocational training for young people and others.
The group has operated in the community for 40 years. Barry McElduff, chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, attended the opening.
Clodagh Devlin, Asda Omagh Community Champion, highlighted the funding's role in creating a supportive space for children and young people.
