South Eastern Health Trust Staff Raise Funds in Belfast City Marathon
Staff from the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust participated in the Belfast City Marathon on Sunday. They raised thousands of pounds for various charities.
Twenty-two staff members from the Ulster Hospital Renal Unit ran to support K9 Search & Rescue. The group selected the charity in memory of Anita Potts's sister. Potts noted her unit's involvement marked the third consecutive year of participation. She described the event as a team-building exercise where runners supported each other to the finish line.
Martine McNally, Assistant Director of Risk Management, collected 3,300 pounds for the Children’s Hyperinsulinism Charity. The charity assists young people with a rare congenital condition.
Staff from Ward 3B raised 2,819 pounds for a salivary gland charity.
Teams from the Neonatal Unit joined the marathon to aid local causes. Joy Kennedy, Communications Officer, ran a relay with Rosario Football Club and raised 1,560 pounds for All Disability Team. The team promotes inclusive sports participation.
