Charley Boorman and Glenn Irwin opened this year's North West 200 motorcycle race with an 8.9-mile parade lap around the Triangle Course. The event took place today at the circuit.

Boorman described his first visit to the North West 200 as incredible. He stated that a biking baselayer brand proposed the idea of a film about the event. Boorman noted that research showed it would be an interesting project.

The documentary, titled Bigger Better Faster, will cover the North West 200. Glenn Irwin serves as the central figure. Director Luke Whatley-Bigg said the film mixes general coverage of the event with focus on Irwin.

Boorman said the film will present the North West 200 in a new way. It includes the event's history and past competitors. Glenn Irwin's return stands out as he seeks to increase his 11 Superbike wins, the most in event history. Alastair Seeley targets his 30th win overall.

A crew filmed background footage along the north coast in April. Boorman called the area beautiful and praised local hospitality. He thanked event director Mervyn White and the team for full filming access.

The 75- to 90-minute documentary releases later this year. Distribution details remain unconfirmed.

Boorman will appear at a Meet The Stars event in Coleraine Town Hall at 1pm Friday. He joins Shakey Byrne, Rhys Irwin, Alan Irwin, and Jeremy McWilliams for a Pit Lane Patter Chat Show VIP Night at 8pm in the Paddock Hospitality marquee. Tickets cost £11.

Practice sessions continue tomorrow from 9am to 3pm. Racing starts at 4.45pm tomorrow and runs to 9pm. Saturday's schedule covers 9am to 7pm.
