BBC Sport NI has secured a three-year broadcast extension for the North West 200 with the Coleraine and District Motor Club. The deal covers events from 2027 to 2029, including the road race's centenary year.

Coverage will include live streaming of every practice session and race on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport NI website for audiences worldwide. Live audio commentary will air on BBC Radio Foyle and BBC Sounds for Thursday evening and Saturday sessions. BBC Radio Ulster will broadcast a dedicated race day programme.

Television viewers will receive three highlights programmes on BBC Northern Ireland, with full catch-up on BBC iPlayer. The North West 200 takes place on an 8.9-mile Triangle circuit along the north coast and attracts tens of thousands of spectators each year.

Adam Smyth, Director of BBC Northern Ireland, stated that the partnership extension recognizes the event's global status and supports coverage up to the 2029 centenary. He noted the long relationship with the motor club and the value in showcasing the north west coastline.

Mervyn Whyte, Event Director of the North West 200, said BBC Sport NI coverage has increased the event's international reach and highlighted both the racing and the north coast. Glenn Irwin, a rider, described the coverage as key for accessibility and placing the event on a global platform.

The North West 200 draws visitors to areas including Portrush, Portstewart, and Coleraine, supporting local businesses.
