Storm Stacey Prepares for North West 200 Superbike Debut
Storm Stacey will make his debut at the North West 200 on the Triangle circuit in Portrush from May 4 to 9. The 23-year-old British Superbike competitor rides a V4RR Superbike-spec Ducati for the Bathams AJN Racing team.
Race Director Mervyn Whyte appeared with Stacey and Rob Hodson, both North West newcomers. Stacey visited the 8.9-mile course recently, guided by Josh Brookes, a former BSB champion with North West experience.
Stacey described difficulty visualising public roads as a race track during the visit. Brookes pointed out bumps, manholes, and grip variations. Stacey plans to adapt during practice.
Team owner Michael Rutter, a 14-time North West winner, supports Stacey. Stacey values Rutter's course knowledge. The rider arrives after the British Superbike opener at Oulton Park.
Stacey anticipates challenges in chicanes, heavy braking zones, and sections past a church and under a railway bridge. He aims for a safe debut without crashes.
