Students from Cullybackey College won the Company of the Year award at the Young Enterprise NI Awards held in Belfast City Hall. Their business, Seed the Season, supplies seasonal seed kits to communities and schools.

The team developed products including seed bombs and Christmas tree growing kits to promote growing and environmental awareness. They also ran the Little Grow Project, delivering bloom boxes to local primary schools to teach children about pollination and biodiversity.

Six finalist teams competed for the top prize. Seed the Season stood out with its commercial approach and environmental focus.

Young Enterprise NI Chief Executive Carol Fitzsimons MBE stated that the team showed what the programme seeks to accomplish by addressing market needs with creativity, branding, sustainability, and community impact. The programme builds confidence, teamwork, and real-world skills.

Catherine Gillan, managing director of Seed the Season, noted that the win represents a key achievement and that the team learned skills like teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and resilience.

The victory qualifies the Cullybackey team for the UK final in Cardiff this June and potential progression to the European final in Latvia in July.

Other awards went to teams such as Emotion Commotion from Fivemiletown College as runner-up, Kabloom from Limavady Grammar School for branding, and Looped from Glenlola Collegiate for sustainability. Park School in Belfast won the Team Programme award.
