Antrim senior hurling squad cancelled a training session in Dunsilly on Tuesday evening due to concerns raised with the county board.

The players sent a letter to the Antrim County Board citing confusion over reports that manager Davy Fitzgerald had been removed from his position, a decision they understood was later reversed. They noted contradictions in communications, including statements from chairman Seamus McMullan that he had no knowledge of such events, despite confirmations from Fitzgerald and management team members.

The letter also highlighted that some players had not received full training gear allocations as outlined in the GPA Players' Charter. The squad requested a meeting with McMullan and board members that evening to address the issues, stating training would not proceed without it.

Antrim chairman Seamus McMullan responded the next day, acknowledging the concerns and stating he would address them directly with players' representatives. He confirmed no decision was taken to remove Fitzgerald, as verified at the county committee meeting on 27 April 2026.

McMullan attributed frustrations to the team's poor results, including one win this season against Carlow in February and recent defeats to Laois and Down. The county board plans to work with the squad to move forward.

The board issued no further comment.
