Rathmore Grammar School claim Antrim hurling shield in tight Belfast derby
Rathmore Grammar School won the Antrim Cup Year 10 Hurling Shield with a 3-7 to 2-8 victory over Coláiste Feirste at Rathmore.
The game was evenly balanced early on, with both sides trading points. Coláiste Feirste took a significant lead when Cuan Brady struck a goal from a free, but Rathmore responded with goals from Conor Carson and Ronan McIlroy before the interval.
After the restart, Odhran O’Prey added a third goal for Rathmore, finishing with his left foot to create breathing space on the scoreboard.
Coláiste Feirste mounted a late rally. Paddy Óg Robinson converted a 21-yard free into the net, and Brady added another point, but Rathmore held on to secure the shield.
Standout performances included Leo Weng in midfield and Harry McAllister in defence for Rathmore, while Brady and Robinson were prominent for Coláiste Feirste.
The match was played at Rathmore Grammar School.
