Ballymoney Volunteer Pat Crossley Receives MS Society NI Award for 40 Years Service
Pat Crossley from Ballymoney received a Volunteer Impact Award from MS Society Northern Ireland. The award recognises 40 years of service helping people with MS access support information and friendship.
The presentation took place at Parliament Buildings during the start of MS Awareness Week. People living with MS policymakers researchers and volunteers attended. The Health Minister presented the award.
Crossley joined the Ballymoney group 40 years ago. He stated that his focus has been ensuring people with MS do not feel alone. He noted growth in support awareness and hope over the years.
MS Society Northern Ireland marked its 70th anniversary at the event. Stewart Finn Director of MS Society Northern Ireland said the charity's strength comes from volunteers like Crossley who support others consistently.
Finn added that the organisation will continue services and advocacy for those affected by MS in Northern Ireland.
The event highlighted the Northern Ireland MS Research Hub at Queen’s University Belfast on its first anniversary. The hub partners with people affected by MS to advance understanding of the condition.
Caroline Millar from Antrim who lives with MS and participates in research trials said involvement in research provides hope for better outcomes in the future.
