Ulster Orchestra Performs Landscape-Themed Concert in Derry
The Ulster Orchestra returns to Derry for a concert featuring works inspired by dramatic northern landscapes. The programme includes Felix Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture and Third Symphony, drawn from his experiences in Scotland. Organisers noted Mendelssohn captured the rugged scenery through depictions of sea coasts and thunder.
The event continues with Edvard Grieg's Holberg Suite and Christian Sinding's Suite in the Old Style. Ulster Orchestra's Second Violin Section Leader Gongbo Jiang performs as soloist. Conductor Rolf Verbeek leads the performance.
Tickets cost £22.50 and can be purchased online at ulsterorchestra.org.uk or by calling 028 7126 4455.
Founded in 1966, the Ulster Orchestra stages about 40 concerts yearly at Ulster Hall and Waterfront Hall in Belfast. It conducts an annual tour across Northern Ireland and participates in BBC radio and television broadcasts.
