The Ulster Orchestra performed a tribute to composer Carl Hardebeck at Townsend Street Presbyterian Church in Belfast. The event marked the first such salute since 1970.

Carl Hardebeck lived on Divis Street in Belfast. He created braille for the Irish language and collected Irish music.

The church serves as the orchestra's new home. The listed building needs £15 million in repairs to meet standards of European city orchestra rehearsal rooms.

Belfast will host Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann this year and in 2027. The event brings an economic boost exceeding £160 million to the city.

Traditional arts receive two per cent of Arts Council funding. The Traditional Arts Officer post has been part-time since 2013.
