Derry Man Remanded on Drug Supply and Bail Breach Charges
Brian Boyle, 36, of Clarendon Street in Derry, appeared in court charged with obstructing a police search for drugs and involvement in drug supply offences from May 28, 2022. He faces an additional charge of possessing a Class A drug on February 28 this year.
A police officer informed the court that Boyle remains on bail for 17 domestic offences from last year. Police spotted him at Altnagelvin Hospital with the alleged injured party, breaching his bail terms. He also possessed a mobile phone, another violation.
Regarding the drug charges, police saw Boyle in a transaction on Sackville Street. He fled into a Chinese restaurant, leaving his car keys and phone behind the counter, the court heard.
Boyle admitted to police his involvement in drug sales over several years. He accepted that his phone held drug-related messages.
Bail opposition cited risks of reoffending and further breaches. Boyle's solicitor stated he acknowledged low-level supply, plans to start treatment on April 14, and could comply with bail conditions. No drugs were found on him at arrest, and a withdrawal statement exists in the domestic case.
District Judge Oonagh Mullan denied bail. Boyle was remanded in custody for reappearance on April 9.
