A Derry man appeared at Derry Magistrates' Court after admitting possession of Class B drugs.

Ruaraí Canning, 34, of Sherman Court on Maureen Avenue in the Abercorn Road area, was charged following a police search at his address on 26 May.

Officers recovered six grams of the substance. Canning told police the drugs were for his personal use.

Canning pleaded guilty. The court heard he had been on bail since December 2025 without breach.

His solicitor stated Canning has mental health issues stemming from being shot previously by paramilitaries.

Canning was fined £250. The court also ordered the seized drugs to be destroyed.

The case concluded at Derry Magistrates' Court.
