Derry Graves Association Launches Easter Lily Distribution for 1916 Remembrance
The Derry Graves Association has begun its annual Easter Lily campaign in Derry ahead of Easter weekend commemorations for the 1916 events.
A spokesperson for the association described the Easter Lily as a symbol that honours those who died for Irish freedom in 1916 and later years.
The pin originates from a 1925 design by Cumann na mBan and holds national importance linked to past sacrifices and future goals for people on the island.
The spokesperson stated that the lily represents continued hope for unity, equality and prosperity for all island residents.
Distributions occur in the days before Easter. Metal pin badges can be obtained from the Ráth Mór office on New Road.
