Police Confirm Father and Son Deaths Near Ballygawley Not Suspicious
Police in Northern Ireland have ruled the deaths of James Grimes, aged 85, and his son Emmett, aged 54, as non-suspicious. The men were found dead at a house on Garvaghy Road near Ballygawley in County Tyrone.
Emergency services responded to the property shortly after 6.30pm on Tuesday, March 11. Detectives launched an investigation and completed post-mortem examinations on both men within 24 hours.
A PSNI spokesperson confirmed the sudden deaths in the Garvaghy area are not being treated as suspicious. All road closures at the scene have been lifted, with no further details released.
Forensic teams stayed at the house through much of the night. The main policing operation ended shortly after 1am.
Sinn Féin MLA Colm Gildernew stated the deaths shocked the local community and extended thoughts to family and friends. He asked residents to avoid speculation during the police investigation.
DUP MLA Deborah Erskine called the news sad and offered thoughts to the family. West Tyrone MP Órfhlaith Begley described it as tragic and noted thoughts for the community.
