Father and Son James and Emmett Grimes Found Dead at Tyrone Home
Police in Co Tyrone are investigating the sudden deaths of James Grimes, aged 85, and his son Emmett Grimes, aged 54, at their home on Garvaghy Road between Omagh and Ballygawley.
Emergency services responded to the property shortly after 6.30pm on Tuesday. A PSNI spokesperson confirmed officers attended the scene of the two sudden deaths. The road stayed closed between Omagh and Ballygawley, with drivers directed to alternative routes.
Forensic officers inspected rooms inside the house and the driveway. Their work at the site reduced shortly after 1am. Police maintained a presence at the property into Wednesday afternoon.
Post-mortem examinations will determine the cause of death. The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service attended but transported no one to hospital.
West Tyrone MP Órfhlaith Begley expressed support for the Garvaghy community. DUP councillor Mark Robinson offered thoughts to those affected.
Fermanagh and South Tyrone MLA Colm Gildernew called on the public to refrain from speculation and allow police to investigate. DUP MLA Deborah Erskine extended thoughts to the family.
