Police Extend Questioning of Suspect in Enniskillen Murder Case
Police investigating the death of 23-year-old Ellie Flanagan in Enniskillen have received an additional 24 hours to question a 45-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder and related offences. Her body was found at a property on Corban Avenue on Saturday evening, March 7, during enquiries into a road traffic collision on the Carn Road near Tempo at around 9.15pm.
Detectives from the PSNI Major Investigation Team launched a murder inquiry on Monday, March 9, after receiving an initial 36-hour extension to interview the suspect. Police maintain a presence in the Corban Avenue area as the probe continues.
Detective Chief Inspector Gary Robinson stated that thoughts are with Ellie's family and loved ones. He appealed for information from anyone on Cornagrade Road into Corban Avenue between 6.30pm and 10.45pm on March 7. Ellie Flanagan worked as a childminder at Little Foxes Playgroup in Enniskillen. She participated in Lakeland Players drama productions from childhood, including chorus roles and the Fairy Godmother in a recent Christmas pantomime.
Lakeland Players members named her mother Karen, grandparents Attracta and Roger, and aunt Marian among family. The group met on Sunday evening to remember her and offered condolences to colleagues at Little Foxes Playgroup and the Flanagan and Haggins families.
A minute's silence for Ellie Flanagan took place at an event in Omagh marking the amalgamation of Fermanagh and Omagh Women's Aid. Kerrie Flood, the new chief executive officer, said thoughts are with her family.
