Police have named Ellie Flanagan, aged 23, as the woman found dead at a house in the Corban Avenue area of Enniskillen, County Fermanagh. The PSNI Major Investigation Team launched a murder probe after discovering her body on Saturday evening, March 7.

Officers responded to a collision involving a grey Nissan Juke on the Carn Road near Tempo village at about 9:15pm. The driver had fled the scene. Vehicle checks linked it to the Enniskillen address, eight miles away, where they found Flanagan.

A 45-year-old man, known to Flanagan, was arrested near the crash site on suspicion of murder and related offences. He remains in custody after detectives received an extra 36 hours to question him on Monday, March 9.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Robinson stated detectives are working quickly to determine the circumstances of the death. He appealed for information from anyone on Cornagrade Road into Corban Avenue between 6:30pm and 10:45pm that evening who noticed anything unusual.

Robinson asked the public to contact police on 101, quoting reference 1564 07/03/26, or submit details via the Major Incident Public Portal, online form, or Crimestoppers anonymously.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Commander Superintendent Pete Cunningham offered condolences to the family and friends. He confirmed violence against women and girls is a policing priority and noted an increased police presence in the Corban Avenue area over coming days.

Sinn Féin MP Pat Cullen for Fermanagh and South Tyrone called it an awful tragedy. Justice Minister Naomi Long described it as absolutely tragic. DUP MLA Deborah Erskine for Fermanagh and South Tyrone termed it heartbreaking. Ulster Unionist Councillor Roy Crawford for Enniskillen said it shocked the town. Alliance Councillor Eddie Roofe expressed condolences.
