SEUPB Awards 1.17 Million Euros to 18 Community Groups Across Island of Ireland
The Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) announced funding of 1.17 million euros to 18 community and voluntary organisations across the island of Ireland. The awards come through the PeacePlus Change Maker Funding Programme.
SEUPB chief executive Gina McIntyre welcomed the awards to the organisations. She noted that each organisation submitted proposals centred on cross-community or cross-border engagement.
McIntyre stated that the projects demonstrate commitment, creativity and leadership in the region. She encouraged other groups to apply, describing the programme as straightforward and flexible with applicant support.
The programme aims to help grassroots organisations build relationships, confidence and connection.
Funded projects include a youth-led cross-border podcast by The Link-Up connecting young people from Armagh and Monaghan.
Another initiative, the Bridging Divides Programme, targets young people in Newry, Bangor, Dungannon and Carrickfergus or Larne with basketball sessions, peacebuilding and youth leadership development.
Peaceplus is managed by SEUPB as a partnership between the European Union, UK government, Irish government and Northern Ireland Executive.
