18-Year-Old Arrested After Pursuit in County Antrim Field
Police arrested an 18-year-old male after a vehicle pursuit in the Ballymena area of County Antrim. The incident took place on Friday, February 27, when Road Policing Interceptors from Sprucefield observed poor driving by a silver BMW on Cushendall Road.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver accelerated away, prompting a chase. The BMW left the road and came to rest in a field near Newtown-Crommelin.
The driver fled on foot across fields. Local officers from Ballymena and air support units searched the area and found the male at a nearby address.
Suspicions against the suspect include dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving without insurance, and possession of a Class B controlled drug. He faces a local court appearance.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland handles such road policing to address unsafe driving in the region.
