Man held after car chase through north Antrim countryside
Police arrested an 18-year-old man in north Antrim after a car chase that moved from road to fields. The PSNI Roads Policing Interceptors team based in Sprucefield targeted a silver BMW on Cushendall Road near Ballymena on Friday over erratic driving.
The vehicle sped from the officers and veered off the road during the pursuit. It came to a halt in a field close to Newtowncrommelin. The driver then fled on foot through nearby fields.
Teams from the interceptors unit, Ballymena local policing, and the PSNI Air Support Unit searched the area. They found the man at a local address soon afterwards.
He faces charges of dangerous driving, refusing to stop for police, driving without insurance, and holding a Class B drug. A court appearance awaits.
