Marble Arch Caves Visitor Centre set for demolition and redevelopment
Plans have been submitted to replace the visitor centre at Marble Arch Caves in County Fermanagh. Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has lodged a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) with the planning authority, outlining its intention to demolish the existing centre on Marlbank Road, Florencecourt, and build a new facility in its place.
The proposed redevelopment would also include associated parking, landscaping, access improvements and ancillary site works. The notice was registered on October 26 and has been marked as valid, though no decision has been recorded at this stage. Further details about the design, facilities and timescale have not been confirmed.
Marble Arch Caves is one of Northern Ireland's most recognised natural attractions. The site forms part of the Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark, an area recognised for its geological heritage and distinctive landscapes.
The current visitor centre provides meeting rooms for groups before cave descents, a canteen and a virtual reality tour room. The application reference is LA10/2026/1041/PAN, relating to a site within the Erne West District Electoral Area.
