A Draperstown company has been fined £200 after failing to download tachograph data within the required timescale.

J&A Renewables Ltd, based at Cloane Lane, admitted the charge at a court sitting.

Prosecuting counsel said the offence came to light after an examination by Driver and Vehicle Agency inspectors on December 4 last year. The inspection showed the company had not downloaded the relevant data on time.

A defence lawyer said it was an oversight by the company that should not have happened. The lawyer added that since the incident, the company has taken significant steps to rectify the matter and prevent recurrence.

District Judge Conor Heaney said the regulation exists for health and safety reasons, and keeping a record of downloaded data is important.

The court imposed a fine of £200.
