Work has begun to replace over 2,000 seats in the Southend Stand at the Brandywell stadium in Derry. Derry City FC confirmed that contractors started after the club's final home fixture of the season against Dundalk.

Derry City and Strabane District Council approved the works earlier this year. The club said a significant number of seats had reached the end of their lifespan, necessitating replacement.

The removed seats will be replaced in the coming weeks. The club aims to have new seating available for supporters for the 2027 season.

Sales for 2027 season tickets will open after the work is completed, which is scheduled for the end of November.

The club expressed appreciation to the council for its support on the matter.
