The Utility Regulator has proposed modifying the Demand Side Unit electricity generation licence held by Veolia Energy Services NI Limited to include a condition prohibiting generation business.

The proposed modification would insert a new Condition 18, described as a prohibition on generation business. The regulator said the condition was unintentionally omitted from Veolia's licence and is a standard term in all other DSU licences.

Veolia has been notified of the proposed modifications. Representations or objections can be made until 5pm on 18 November 2026 by email to specified addresses.

In a separate notice, the Utility Regulator announced the revocation of the Electricity Generation Licence granted to ContourGlobal Solutions (NI) Ltd on 1 September 2009. The licensee has agreed in writing to the revocation.

The regulator said the condition for revocation in the licence is met and it is providing the required notice period of not less than 30 days.

Both notices were published by the Utility Regulator, which regulates electricity and gas in Northern Ireland.
