Utility Regulator Releases Latest Consumer Surveys and Standards Update
The Utility Regulator published its July newsletter, detailing a series of regulatory publications and engagement activities across Northern Ireland's energy and water sectors.
On 2 July, the regulator released key findings from its fourth Non-domestic Consumer Insight Tracker Survey, which monitors the experiences, attitudes and behaviours of business energy consumers. This was followed on 23 July by the sixth Domestic Consumer Insight Tracker Survey, providing equivalent data for household electricity and gas customers.
A decision paper updating the electricity Guaranteed Standards of Service (GSS) and Overall Standards of Performance (OSP) was published on 22 July.
The 2024/2025 Annual Report for the Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme (NISEP) was also released during the month.
Consultations were issued on the proposed form of an electricity generation licence for Synchronous Condensers on 23 July and on the publication of a Compliance and Enforcement Annual Report on 28 July.
Chief Executive John French attended industry forums in London to discuss consumer outcomes, geopolitical risk and infrastructure finance. Head of Consumer and Business Protection Sinéad Dynan spoke about consumer support issues in an interview for the Collaboration Network newsletter.
The regulator said it continued to progress regulatory priorities and engage with stakeholders to protect electricity, gas and water consumers.
