A6 Glenshane Road repairs near Dungiven to begin 27 July
Essential infrastructure repairs on the A6 Glenshane Road at Dungiven (Carn) will begin on Monday 27 July 2026, the Department for Infrastructure has announced.
Initial enabling works will focus on creating a temporary running lane from the existing Belfast-bound hard shoulder. This lane conversion will extend for 400 metres, with a lane closure in operation throughout that period.
Further works will follow and will include the replacement of a section of drainage culvert and repairs to an adjacent embankment. The department said these later phases would be carried out as soon as practicable, with further details to be confirmed.
The department has programmed the traffic management measures to reduce inconvenience, but expects some disruption. Road users have been advised to allow extra time for journeys through the area and to comply with all temporary restrictions.
Local access will be maintained where possible. The department thanked residents, businesses and commuters for their patience ahead of the works.
