Ballinamallard 5K to raise funds for fire-damaged football club
A 5-kilometre fun run and walk will be held in Ballinamallard on Friday, 31 July, with proceeds going to several local causes, including repairs to Ballinamallard United Football Club’s clubhouse following a fire.
The event starts and finishes at Ballinamallard Primary School at 7pm. Participants will follow a route on country roads north of the village. Refreshments will be served afterwards at the Archdale Hall, and prizes will be awarded in junior, open and senior categories.
Money raised will help fund repairs to the clubhouse at Ferney Park, which was extensively damaged in a blaze. The clubhouse has long been a hub for players, supporters and community activities. Since the fire, a strong community effort has been underway to support the club’s recovery.
Proceeds will also go towards phase two of the Ember Community Hub project, as well as charities that provide support for people living with dementia in the area.
The run is sponsored by local businesses. Organisers hope for a good turnout from runners, walkers and families. Registration costs £10 and can be completed online. Further information is available on the Ballinamallard 5K Fun Run Facebook page.
