Detectives are investigating a burglary in east Belfast that they are treating as a racially motivated hate crime. The incident occurred on Wednesday 15 July at a residential property in the Castlereagh Place area.

Shortly before 9.10pm, an unknown man entered the home armed with a metal bat. He threatened and verbally abused two male occupants, one in his 20s and the other in his 30s. Neither man was injured, but police said they were left badly shaken.

The intruder damaged a glass table inside the property and broke several windows. Detectives have appealed for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.
