Belfast Salon Owner Wins L'Oréal Colour Trophy Regional Title
A Belfast hairdresser has won a regional title at a major UK hair colour competition.
Leighann Rea, founder of Leighann Rea Hairdressing in Finaghy, was named Northern Ireland Regional Winner at the L'Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final. The event took place at The O2 in London on Thursday, July 9, marking the competition's 70th year.
Finalists were chosen from thousands of colourists and salons across the UK. The evening included a gala dinner, live shows, an awards ceremony and an afterparty, hosted by television presenter Amanda Holden. The judging panel featured Adam Reed, a celebrity hairstylist and founder of ARKIVE by Adam Reed, and Errol Douglas MBE, founder of Errol Douglas London.
Rea described the win as a significant moment for her independent salon. She said the recognition on a national stage highlights the creativity emerging from Northern Ireland. Her aim was to create a look with depth, movement and dimension that reflected confidence and individuality.
Travel disruption almost prevented Rea from attending. Flights from Belfast to London were cancelled on the day, but her husband and three team members managed to travel part of the way by air, then completed the journey by train to join her at the awards.
