A 39-year-old man has appeared at Dungannon Magistrates Court charged with causing grievous bodily injury by driving without due care and attention. Ryan Francis McElhatton, of Dunroe Road, Clogher, faces the charge in connection with a collision on Augher Road, Clogher.

The alleged offence occurred on December 8 last year, and involved serious injury to a woman. No further details of the incident were disclosed during the short hearing.

A defence solicitor told the court he had only just received the case papers and needed time for legal consultation. District Judge Francus Rafferty adjourned the case until July 15, when McElhatton is expected to indicate how he intends to plead.
