Centra Ballymena Honoured as Top Fundraiser for Action Cancer
Centra Ballymena has been named one of the top fundraising stores in Northern Ireland by Musgrave NI after collecting £2,389 for Action Cancer during 2025.
The McCool family-operated store in Ballymena was recognised as a leading performer in a network-wide effort that raised a record £253,000 for the cancer charity last year.
Maurice Cusack, Head of Retail Marketing for Centra and SuperValu, acknowledged the contribution of the Ballymena team and the wider store network. He noted that the collective fundraising total was the highest ever achieved for Action Cancer.
Funds were generated through local in-store collections and chain-wide initiatives, including the Frank and Honest Espresso We Care campaign, which donated 50p from every coffee sold over a four-day period and raised more than £25,000 across participating outlets.
Two other County Antrim stores operated by the same family also posted strong results. SuperValu Ballymoney raised £3,317 and SuperValu Kells raised £3,132, bringing the combined total from the three shops to almost £9,000.
The money supports Action Cancer's Big Bus service, a mobile unit that delivers screening and health checks directly to communities. In 2025, the Big Bus visited 130 locations and provided 2,226 mammograms, 1,016 health checks and 230 skin cancer assessments across Northern Ireland.
