Three youth players from Enniskillen RFC have been selected for the Ulster Under-16 Development Trials. Hannah Hobbs, one of the trio, confirmed her place after completing a series of late-summer training sessions and fitness assessments.

The trials, held around mid-September, tested speed, endurance and overall fitness. Hobbs sustained a shoulder injury during one of the final pre-trial sessions and had to wear a sling, but was still named in the squad.

Hobbs has been involved with rugby from a young age, attending Ulster Rugby summer residential camps. Those camps introduced her to aspects of the sport beyond playing, including refereeing. She has also represented her club in advertising, featuring in a Land Rover Defender campaign promoting the Women's Rugby World Cup, and later travelled to watch the tournament final.

At club level, Hobbs was named Player of the Year at Enniskillen RFC's Under-12 awards. She was part of the Enniskillen side that won a Shield Final, defeating a combined team from Cooke, Instonians, Larne, Malone and Ophir 50-10. Her father, Doug Hobbs, serves as head of forwards coach at the club.

The selection marks a further step in a youth career that has seen increasing recognition for female players in the region.
