Two vehicles seized in Dunmurry police station bomb investigation
Detectives investigating the car bomb attack at Dunmurry police station in April seized two vehicles and electronic devices during searches in west Belfast on Tuesday 16 June. The Police Service of Northern Ireland confirmed the Terrorism Investigation Unit conducted the operation with support from local policing and operational support officers.
The attack occurred shortly after 10.50pm on Saturday 25 April. A delivery driver was hijacked in the Twinbrook area and forced to drive his car, which had been fitted with a gas cylinder device, to the station. The vehicle exploded outside the building as evacuations were underway. No one was injured.
Several residents, including two babies, were brought to safety by officers when the bomb detonated.
A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder in connection with the explosion.
The items recovered on Tuesday include a number of electronic devices in addition to the two vehicles. Police said enquiries are ongoing and renewed their appeal for anyone with information to contact them on 101. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
The attack took place in a built-up area close to family homes. It came weeks after a similar incident at a police station in Lurgan.
