Dungannon Park 5k to honour victims of 2019 Greenvale Hotel crush
A 5 kilometre run and walk organised by a friend of the victims will take place in Dungannon Park on 27 June to raise money for St Vincent de Paul and to honour the lives of three teenagers who died in a crowd crush at a Co Tyrone hotel in 2019.
Connor Currie, 16, and 17-year-olds Lauren Bullock and Morgan Barnard were killed outside the Greenvale Hotel in Cookstown on 17 March 2019. They were waiting to enter a St Patrick's Day disco along with hundreds of other young people when the crush occurred.
The event, named Miles in their Memory, was created by Jack McCullagh. He said the aim was to bring the community together for a positive and uplifting day, moving beyond the grief and reflection that has dominated the past seven years.
Lauren Bullock's mother, Mary Bullock, recalled how members of St Vincent de Paul came to the family's door with support in the aftermath of the tragedy. She said the family now wanted to give back and show gratitude. She added that the event was a fitting tribute to her daughter, who had enjoyed many visits to Dungannon Park.
Pauline Brown, regional manager for St Vincent de Paul, said the charity was honoured to have been chosen to benefit from the event. She thanked Mr McCullagh and everyone planning to participate and donate.
Miles in their Memory starts at 2pm on 27 June in Dungannon Park. Around 350 people are expected. Donations can be made through a dedicated GoFundMe page.
The hotel owner and a self-employed security worker face manslaughter charges in connection with the deaths. They have pleaded not guilty, and a trial is due to begin in late 2026.
