Police have arrested five people after a sectarian disturbance in Derry on Monday evening.

Youths gathered in the Bishop Street and Nailors Row area around 6.30pm and began throwing stones towards the Fountain Estate, according to the Police Service of Northern Ireland. Officers attended and made five arrests for offences including riotous behaviour. A golf club was among items seized. No injuries were reported.

The PSNI said the incident is being treated as sectarian-motivated. Enquiries are ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact police.
