Technology company Kainos is to create 341 new jobs in Belfast and Derry over the next three years as it expands its artificial intelligence capabilities.

The positions, which average £58,000 per year, span software engineering, data engineering, AI and data science, architecture, product and Workday consulting, and business support. Thirty-two of the roles will be based in the Derry office, with the remainder in Belfast.

The company said the expansion is driven by growing demand for its AI digital transformation services across public, health and commercial sectors. It is also investing £39m in a new Belfast office at Bankmore.

Kainos is headquartered in Belfast, where it was founded in 1986. It now operates in 20 countries and employs more than 3,500 people across Europe and North America. Its Derry office opened in 2011.

Invest NI has offered £1.5m in support towards the job creation. The announcement was made by the First Minister, deputy First Minister and Economy Minister.
