Limavady man sentenced for disorderly behaviour at Altnagelvin Hospital
A Limavady man has been sentenced to three months in prison, suspended for 12 months, for disorderly behaviour at Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry.
The incident occurred on October 17 last year. Police were initially contacted by the mother of the defendant, Aiden McKay, 27, of Josephine Avenue, Limavady. She reported that her son was acting erratically in the street.
McKay later came to the attention of police in relation to a separate, unrelated matter. While at the hospital, he was verbally disorderly, using profanities, and persisted despite being warned about his conduct.
At the Magistrate’s Court in Derry on Thursday, defence solicitor Keith Kyle said McKay struggled with drug addiction but stressed the offence was purely verbal. McKay, who had no previous record, pleaded guilty.
He was given a three-month custodial sentence, suspended for 12 months.
