A 27-year-old man faces charges in Antrim Magistrates' Court on Tuesday following an altercation in Limavady on Sunday, March 22. Police arrested two men, both in their 20s, after the incident in the town.

One officer received hospital treatment for facial injuries. A woman also went to hospital for injuries not considered serious.

Officers arrested the first man on suspicion of assault on police, resisting arrest, and theft. The second man ran from the scene and barricaded himself in a property in the Glenview area while holding a broken bottle.

Specially trained officers entered the property and used a Conducted Energy Device to prevent him from harming himself. They arrested him on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, assault on police, disorderly behaviour, and theft.

Police charged the 27-year-old with two counts of assault on police, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and resisting arrest. Charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
